Pickles are a recipe introduced in Cooking Mama 3: Shop & Chop.

A pickle is based on a method of preserving food known as "pickling", in which a fruit or vegetable is stored in a container with spices and a sour or salty brine for a period of time.

The term "pickle" generally refers to pickled cucumbers. Its salty and tart flavor is often enjoyed on hamburgers or as relish for hot dogs. Some enjoy eating pickles as is.

In Cooking Mama 5: Bon Appétit!, the Assorted Pickles recipe is based off the Japanese nukazuke, which are vegetables fermented and pickled in rice bran, the outer layer of brown rice that contains a lot of vitamins and nutrients. As very little liquid is needed to produce the pickled flavor, the vegetables retain their crispiness, making them quite popular.
